Off the very Southern tip of Ras Mohammed are several dives loosely know as “Ras”. It takes about 1 hour to reach Ras Mohammed from Sharm El Sheikh. It’s designated by the Egyptian government as the protected National Park of Ras Mohamed. The name stems from the word Ras, Arabic for headland, or cape, and the fact that at a certain time of day, when viewed from the right angle, the cliffs which we know today as Shark Observatory appear to form the outline of a face that is widely regarded as the face of the prophet Mohamed.

Shark Reef offers a great reef with beautiful coral and a teeming reef life. Keep an eye in the blue as there are also many pelagic fishes such as shoals of Barracudas, Jacks and Trevallies. Various Reef Sharks such as Grey and Blacktip Reef Sharks can also be spotted in the blue. The dive starts off a drift a Shark Reefwhere a wall drops dramatically into the blue. You float past swarming orange and blue anthias and over colourful soft corals feeding in the current. Reef sharks (black and whitetips) are often seen; less often are hammerheads. At the end of your dive you can see the remains of the Yolanda Wreck that was carrying toilets seats!. The dive finally ends in the shallows beyond.
