Chumphon Pinnacle – Koh Tao Dive Sites is a renowned dive site located approximately 11 kilometers northwest of Koh Tao, Thailand. Known for its impressive underwater granite pinnacle, abundant marine life. This site is considered one of the premier diving locations in the Gulf of Thailand. It offers an exhilarating experience for intermediate to advanced divers.

Chumphon Pinnacle is accessible only by boat. Typically a 30-45 minute ride from Koh Tao’s main piers. This dive site is more suitable for intermediate to advanced divers. Ideally those with CMAS ** or Advanced Open Water (AOW) certification due to its depth and often challenging conditions. The average depth at Chumphon Pinnacle is around 22 meters (72 feet), with a maximum depth of about 36 meters (118 feet).

Currents at this site can range from moderate to strong, typically between 1 to 3 knots. Which can make for an exciting dive but requires good buoyancy control and experience. Visibility is generally good to excellent, usually between 15 meters (49 feet) and 30 meters (98 feet).

Chumphon Pinnacle consists of a massive granite pinnacle that rises from the seafloor at 36 meters to about 14 meters below the surface. The pinnacle is surrounded by smaller rocky outcrops and boulder formations. There are large underwater plateaus rich in branch corals, sea whips and barrel sponges and an exceptional presence of reef inhabitants and pelagic visitors.

The site is known for its rich marine biodiversity, including large schools of barracuda, batfish, and trevally. Divers might also encounter groupers, snappers, and jacks. Chumphon Pinnacle is where you are most likely to spot the seasonally visiting whale sharks.
