Bounty Wreck
Bounty Wreck is one of the most unique and accessible dive sites in the Gili Islands, offering a fascinating blend of history and marine life. Located just off the coast of Gili Meno, this shallow wreck site is actually a deliberately sunk pier structure from the former Bounty Resort, now transformed into an artificial reef.
The wreck lies in relatively shallow water, making it ideal for beginner divers, and underwater photographers. Over time, the structure has become encrusted with corals and sponges, attracting a wide variety of marine life. Schools of fish gather around the beams, while macro enthusiasts can spot nudibranchs, shrimp, and other small reef creatures hidden among the growth.
Turtles are frequently seen in the area, often gliding past the wreck or resting nearby, adding to the appeal of the site. The calm conditions and good visibility make it easy to explore the entire structure at a relaxed pace.
Bounty Wreck stands out not just for its marine biodiversity, but for its distinctive underwater architecture. Sunlight filtering through the submerged framework creates beautiful light patterns, making it a favorite spot for both casual snorkelers and photographers looking for something a little different from the typical coral reef experience.
